Manager, Manufacturing Equipment Design Engineering

Position Summary

This position contributes to CelLink’s manufacturing scalability and operational excellence by leading the design and development of mechanically complex manufacturing equipment and tooling. The role ensures equipment is robust, reliable, and capable of supporting high-volume production.

It requires deep mechanical engineering expertise, strong problem-solving capability, and effective team leadership, along with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Process Engineering, and Automation teams.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Lead the design and development of custom mechanical manufacturing equipment, tooling, and fixturing to support production and NPI
  • Own mechanical system architecture, including motion systems, tolerances, materials, and structural integrity
  • Establish and enforce mechanical design standards (GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, DFM) to ensure consistency and reliability
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership in CAD design, design reviews, and complex mechanical problem-solving
  • Lead root cause analysis of equipment issues, focusing on mechanical failure modes (wear, alignment, vibration, fatigue)
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area; follow prescribed safety and environmental regulations.
  • Demonstrate CelLink’s culture of integrity, teamwork, self-discipline, and professional competence; perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design of manufacturing equipment or machinery
  • 2+ years of experience leading engineering teams or major technical projects
  • Strong experience with custom equipment, tooling, and fixturing design in a production environment
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar) and engineering drawing standards
  • Experience with designing and evaluating machine safety components according to ISO, OSHA, and NFPA standards.
  • Demonstrated experience with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and mechanical system design

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automation integration (PLC, robotics, vision systems)
  • Background in high-volume manufacturing (automotive, electronics, or similar)
  • Experience managing external vendors for equipment fabrication, installation, and qualification
  • Experience working with SolidWorks PDM or similar
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies

This role is based on or near the manufacturing floor and requires regular, hands-on involvement with equipment build, installation, and troubleshooting activities.
