The AMI Data Analyst is responsible for collecting electric meter data for the accurate and timely delivery of information to downstream systems (billing, demand response, conservation, energy efficiency, SCADA etc.). Under general supervision of the Senior AMI Analyst, perform various technical duties associated with retrieving, processing, validating, editing, and estimating meter data in the Meter Data Management Systems (MDMS) and/or the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Headend System.Applicants are required to attach a resume
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist Senior AMI Analyst in the maintenance of the Meter Data Management Systems (MDMS) in support of the utility billing processes to include updating tables, troubleshooting, documenting problems and resolutions, assisting with conversions and upgrades, and acting as a liaison between the user department and Operational Technology(OT) group.
Develops data-driven reports using industry standard reporting tools (SQL, Microsoft Access, Excel, etc.)
Specifies and documents integrations between different software systems including specific data exchanges, types of software interactions (web services, database connections), database schema design, and the use of software integration tools.
Writes specifications for data inputs and outputs including the design of forms, graphical user interfaces, and reports
Develop standardized queries on interval and register data from various sources to assist team identify and correct anomalies in the customer data.
Provides technical and functional guidance and specifications to the team.
Develop and automate queries that perform validation checks in MDMS and/or AMI Headend to determine the accuracy of field data and report missing data.
Creates, modifies, and executes existing data queries as necessary to provide data needed to analyze and report on exceptions within AMI, MDMS, and Utility billing systems.
Create new queries as required to provide data for exception analysis.
Provide internal support to other departments for data services requests that require troubleshooting, SME, or planning of data services processes on a per-project basis.
Develop and maintain reports based on internal customer requirements for normalized data presentation, forecasting, financial projections, invoicing, and billing.
In collaboration with GIS, develop tools that help troubleshoot field network devices; coordinate with appropriate departments as needed.
Assist in retrieving and processing meter interval data (edit, estimate, validate) from electric meters from various applications as necessary for analytics and validations.
Ensure the validity of the meter interval data in the MDMS, including estimation and profiling of missing interval data. Responsible for correcting the data and coordinating with other appropriate departments when needed.
Analyze daily collection results in both the MDMS and AMI Headend systems, identify any meter collection issues, and coordinate within the Operational Technology group, or directly with field operations, and billing organizations to resolve issues.
Analyze MDMS/AMI exceptions generated each day based on existing operating procedures, determine the cause and correct the information to allow for timely billing.
Perform initial analysis on new exceptions and provide recommendations for resolution to their direct Supervisor. If the exception is due to a technical issue, work with their direct Supervisor to understand and document the issue.
Analyzes, researches, and implements data changes and corrections in the MDMS and AMI Headend system prior to the billing process.
Analyze and resolve time-sensitive meter data-related inquiries received from internal departments.

Other Job Responsibilities:
In collaboration with the direct supervisor and billing personnel, develop and maintain acceptable metering data quality.
In collaboration with the direct supervisor and OT network personnel develop and maintain acceptable field network performance.
Assist in coordinating with the field operations organization in supporting meter exchanges, troubleshooting metering issues, and resolving issues with obtaining reads/intervals.
Maintain a thorough understanding of meter-to-cash operations, including billing processes and the utility rate tariffs at the City of Georgetown.
Maintain a thorough understanding of the data dictionaries of AMI, MDMS, and Utility Billing systems.
Recommend and implement operational improvements that will potentially create cost savings and improve customer billing accuracy.
Maintain good working relationships with other departments in the meter-to-cash operations to help resolve simple to complex issues related to usage before finalizing billing transactions.
Responsible for tracking, coordinating, and reporting on the status and trends of any AMI network performance issues.
Provide expertise to create and maintain metrics related to billing determinants, functionality configuration, and data delivery services.
Validates and monitors all daily file transfers between MDMS, AMI Headend, and Utility billing software to identify any discrepancies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, training and Experience: Associate’s degree in business, Economics, Marketing, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, and/or equivalent work-related experience. Four (4) years of full-time relevant job experience. One (1) additional year of full-time experience may be substituted for 30 semester hours of the education of the required education with a maximum substitution of two (2) years.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in data analytics, including complex statistical analysis, and Experience with SQL queries, SSRS reporting, and related tools.
Experience with meter data management from the utilities or finance industries, and Experience manipulating and interpreting large data sets.
Strong Analytical skills: must be able to provide timely and accurate interpretation of Meter Data Information.
Experience working with AMI applications.
Alarms, warnings and data associated with AMI devices, networks and instrumentation
Meter configurations (functional programming, firmware, and CIS setup)
Headend configurations (AMI hardware/software/firmware release notes)
Experience managing projects from planning to completion under limited guidance
Advanced Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Proficiency in business intelligence platforms like Tableau, Power BI, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Basic Utility Service(s), system construction and design.
Data network infrastructure
Billing practices and the principles of revenue collection
Applicable software and emerging trends in automated metering infrastructure
Geographic Information System (GIS)
Methods and techniques of user relations and data gathering
City policies and procedures (Personnel, Safety and Purchasing)
High school-level math (algebra, geometry, and trigonometry), physics, etc. relevant to electric utility distribution design

Valid Class C Texas driver’s license

Hiring Range: $38.18 - $47.83, hourly.
