Camp Goodwater Counselor (Seasonal)

Responsible for the safety and supervision of camp participants, camp counselors, and head counselors. Plays an active role in organizing and implementing all aspects of the summer camp program. Responsible for setting up larger camp activities and maintaining necessary equipment. Maintains camper and counselor discipline as necessary in appropriate manner. Serves as a role model for appropriate camper and counselor behavior. Serves as liaison between camp staff and Recreation Supervisor. Maintains daily camp staff schedule and assigns staff to activities as needed. Serves as parent contact for camp when necessary. Maintains accident, incident, and behavior report files and follows up on all reports.There are multiple camp Counselor positions available.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Directly Responsible for the safety and supervision of camp participants.
Leads participants in camp activities / events with enthusiasm and positivity. Participates in all activities while maintaining proper camper supervision.
Helps develop each child’s self-esteem and independence. Encourages peer relationships between campers.
Builds positive relationships with children in their care.
Models appropriate and professional staff behavior and builds positive working relationships with other staff.
Maintains camper discipline as needed in a manner consistent with Camp Goodwater Behavior Policy. Provides reports on camper behavior to Head Counselors.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
At least one (1) year of experience supervising multiple children. Previous day camp or day care setting is preferred. Must be at least 16 years of age.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of recreation programming.
Willing to work under direct supervision and follow given instructions.
Ability to work independently.
General knowledge of camp and/or recreation programs.
Ability and experience to lead and supervise children.
Regular punctual attendance is required.
CERTIFICATION(S)/LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid Class C Texas Driver's License is preferred. Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR and AED certifications required.
EMPLOYMENT TESTING:
Employment is contingent on passing post-offer, pre-employment drug testing and criminal background investigation.
Work Schedule:
Counselors’ hours will be scheduled during camp operational hours; 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. Camp Goodwater runs for 10 weeks, starting June 1, 2026 and ending on August 7, 2026.
*Required Training for Goodwater Counselors will be scheduled May 25-29, 2026 between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Hiring Range: $12.50 - $14.50, hourly.
