Performs customer service duties at the Recreation Center. Monitors activities of participants, issues equipment, and provides program and membership information to customers.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provides customer service to all participants in activities and programs at the assigned facility.

  • Registers participants for activities, programs, memberships through registration software.

  • Collects payments and electronic funds transfers, balances cash drawer, and prepares daily cash balance reports.

  • Ensures accuracy of Recreation Assistants' cash balance reports.

  • Serves as team lead when the Recreation Supervisor and Senior Recreation Specialist are not present.

  • Provides notification of staffing needs and schedule changes to the Recreation Supervisor.

  • Reviews and enters information into registration software to include address changes, membership cancellations, new members and reservations.

  • Conducts facility tours and provides information to prospective members.

  • Monitors activities offered through the City Parks & Recreation Division to ensure compliance with rules and policies and safety guidelines.

  • Issues and checks ID cards.

  • Distributes recreation equipment to members.

  • Opens and closes the assigned facility and prepares for daily operations.

  • Ensures the assigned facility is opened and closed according to procedures.

  • Responds to inquiries and/or complaints from participants and contract instructors.

  • Completes report forms, including incident/accident and facility tracking reports.

  • Assists other team members with computer input for programs, filing of forms, and flyer distribution.

  • Performs routine maintenance and cleaning in and around the facility.

  • Participates and assists with special events and programs (evenings & weekends)

  • Provides training and assistance to Recreation Assistants.

  • Completes setup/tear down for recreation programming.

  • Performs first aid as necessary.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, training and Experience Guidelines

High school graduate, or equivalent. One (1) year of customer service or public contact. OR Any combination of experience, education and/or training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Cash handling skills, preferred

Knowledge of:

  • CPR and First aid procedures.

  • Planning, administration and operation of athletic and recreational programs and facilities.

  • Effective customer relations practices and procedures.

  • Cash handling practices and procedures.

  • City policies and procedures, rules and regulations.

Skill in:

  • Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Working well with adults and children.

  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

  • Working independently.

  • Monitoring center health and safety compliance policies and procedures.

  • Defining and resolving problems quickly and effectively.

  • Resolving customer complaints and concerns.

  • Taking messages and writing reports.

  • Performing basic math calculations to make change.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Class "C" Texas driver's license.

  • Must possess or must obtain CPR certification within six (6) months from the date of employment.

  • Must possess or must obtain First Aid certification within six (6) months of employment.

Hiring Range: $17.49 - $21.91, hourly.
