Finance Consultant (Temporary)

Consults for the City on special projects related to procurement or other Finance areas, as needed. This position is a temporary, part-time position and is not a supervisory role.Applicants are required to attach a resume.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide updated guidance on procurement policies and procedures as needed to comply with federal and state regulations.
Assist with training on procurement or other processes; make recommendations to resolve issues and improve procedures, processes and accountability related to financial matters.
Assists with the development of performance metrics for procurement.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, training and Experience Guidelines
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in finance or a related field. Seven (7) years of full-time, increasingly responsible experience in a governmental procurement environment. Experience with developing procurement and financial policies, procedures, training and performance metrics, project lead experience preferred.
Knowledge of:
Federal and state government procurement statutes
Procurement processes in Workday
Modern office methods, practices, procedures, and equipment
Commonly used business software such as Microsoft Office Suite
Skill in:
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
Preparing a variety of procurement policies
Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing
Examining and verifying financial documents and reports
Reading procurement policies and training materials, professional journals, inter and intra office correspondence, and educational materials.
Composing narrative portions of policies and trainings; writes memorandums and letters.
Analyzing data and developing performance metrics.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Valid Class "C" Texas driver’s license required. Out-of-state license holders must have a valid license and provide a three-year driving history.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, twisting, climbing, balancing, vision, hearing, talking, use of foot controls.
Hiring Range: $55.00 - $60.00, hourly.
*This is a temporary, part-time (8-20 hours per week) position with an anticipated end date of December 31, 2026.
