Court Liaison - Full Time

A Court Liaison. This position is responsible for activities related to court advocacy, program admission, progress hearings, and assessment. This includes conducting court advocacy with patients, prosecutors, and judges by using clinical and risk evaluation information. We are looking for a skilled clinician able to evaluate mental health, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Attend treatment team/utilization review meetings if there is something to ask or report for upcoming hearings.
- Follow and track patients on a NED status (time sensitive).
- Follow and track patients who are placed on an OPC/ Commitment status.
- Prepare and file court documents with clinicals within Bell/Williamson counties, when necessary. This includes the application, accepting facility, physician's certificate, general information, 2nd physician's certification and medication application.
- Ensure all documents are notarized (as necessary), obtain a check, and send all documents to the court for approval prior to delivering documents to the court.
- Serve patients in Bell County OPC paperwork.
- Send updated clinicals to court prior to hearings.
- Communicate with court lawyers in Bell/Travis/Williamson counties, including patient assigned lawyers.
- Testify at OPC hearings in Williamson County.
- Coordinate with transportation and scheduler regarding upcoming hearings in Travis and Williamson.
- Send discharge orders to appropriate courts.
- Track patients who have signed an AMA on their status if they are being discharged or need to be placed on an OPC.
- Talk with patients, if they have questions, regarding their NED/OPC status.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g., social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology) preferred.
Licenses: LMSW, LCSW, LPC-I, LPC, LMFT-A, or LMFT is a plus.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years experience in a healthcare field or combination education and experience required. Inpatient or outpatient psychiatric experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent communication, assessment, evaluation, and interpretation skills.
- Knowledge of psychiatric and addictive disease diagnoses and treatment; flexibility; teaching or training skills helpful; understanding of, or ability to understand, DSM methodology.
- Advanced knowledge and clinical skills in diagnosis and treatment of mental health Knowledgeable of patient rights and laws pertaining to mental health.
- Must have basic PC skills that include a combination of working in a Windows Operating System and Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and the ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute.
- Must have excellent communication skills and be a good listener with a pleasant demeanor that encourages and engages others.
- Must be able to multi-task, prioritize with strong time management skills.
Screening: Must successfully pass background check, drug screen, physical and be able to provide positive employment references.
